Hurricanes!
This Glencoe Science WebQuest is a guided challenge for students to research, build knowledge and answer questions about hurricanes, how they form, how they compare to other weather phenomena, and how they are categorized on the Saffir-Simpson scale. This WebQuest is appropriate for middle-school learners, though it could be adapted to high school courses in Environmental Science by replacing the questions in the link. While it directly addresses and assesses students' ability to analyze how bodies of water have an effect on hurricane formation, it also prompts students to research and report their discoveries through inquiry.
