Research Paper: Writing Help

This website provides a simple overview of a first research paper. It includes an example of a model paper, a template for collecting and organizing research and documenting sources, and a checklist for self assessment. This lesson provides a step-by-step scaffolded approach to a first research paper. Students may read and model their own writing after the provided example. Students will use the provided graphic organizer to generate research questions, begin outlining information, and document research sources. After writing their reports, students will use the provided checklist to conduct a self assessment or as an aid to guide discussion during a peer/partner writing conference.
