Preschool and Early Grades Writing - Deborah Wells Rowe
Deborah Wells Rowe, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Teaching & Learning at Vanderbilt University. She studies the beginnings of writing in early childhood. Her work describes what very young children learn about writing and how they construct these understandings in face-to-face interactions in classrooms. Rowe's published research results describe the kinds of activity structures, materials, and adult-child interactions that support children in learning about writing in childcare, preschool, and elementary classrooms.
