Combinations and Permutations
This online lesson starts with the precise definitions of permutation and combination, and how they are related (i.e. order matters with permutations and does not matter in combinations). It goes on to introduce the factorial formulas to determine the number of permutations and combinations using several real-world examples.
This lesson thoroughly covers the concepts of permutations and combinations, which are central to understanding and evaluating the probability of compound events. Permutation and combination formulas are shortcuts to counting procedures, and using them in real-world situations guide students to effectively interpret data.
