What is a Fossil?
Students can use this site to view photographs and illustrations and read text to learn about fossil formation and looking for fossils. There are very good photographs of different fossils.
The text included at this site may be at a level too high for some readers at this grade level, but the photographs and illustrations are interesting and informative within themselves. The site can be projected for the whole class with the teacher reading or explaining the text while engaging students in a discussion about what the fossils are telling them about the past. Students will enjoy exploring the site individually as well.
