Speech Analysis #1: How to Study and Critique a Speech
This blog entry offers a large list of questions to ask when analyzing a speech. These questions are categorized into various categories including Speech Objectives, Audience and Context, Speech Opening, Speech Body, Visual Aids, Use of Stage Space among many other categories.
Questions from this site can be utilized for students to critique a speech. The teacher can adapt the questions based on the focus of the critique (movement, visuals, articulation, etc.) in order to create a more focused critique. Teachers could also use these questions in a jigsaw strategy, having small groups critique different aspects of a speech and then presenting these to the whole class.
