Reading Graphic Organizers Galore
This resource offered by Scholastic is a great place to access many reading graphic organizers. It can be used with various literature, and there is a variety of graphic organizers to choose from to help students understand plot, central themes, or important details in the story. Graphic organizers are user and printer friendly, thus helping to add convenience in finding the right organizer to help differentiate for student needs.
Using the graphic organizers, students will be able to idenify the central themes, developing plots, and/or important details in a story by organizing the information gained in reading. Putting the ideas down in writing in a graphic organizer helps student visualize how to think about information and determine its importance for understanding the text. It also helps students to "see" how all these literary elements work together to create a strong story, also allowing them a chance to see how plots and characters change over time in a story.
