Coulomb's Law
This TI-Nspire graphing simulation allows students to explore the effects of varying distance and electrical charge for two objects and to graphically analyze the relationships. Students see Coulomb's Law in action as they manipulate the radius and/or charge between two particles, capture data, and perform a power regression to quantify the relationship between distance and electrical force. Students can also manuever a test charge along an electrical field and observe the resulting effects with visual vectors.
This resource addresses the Physics standard of exploring electrical forces, charges and fields by allowing students to investigate the relationships between these variables in a very visual manner through simulation technology. Students can actually sense what an electric field is as they manipulate the variables (force and charge) and observe the effects. This is a dynamic tool which illustrates the connection between data acquisition and the resulting graphs, and allows for full analysis of the graph.
