Now You See It, Now You Don't
Though this experiment is designed for students to do at home, the lesson can be altered to fit a classroom setting. The goal is to teach students research methodology (note taking, etc.), as well as to demonstrate how quickly it takes to form ice and for ice to melt, under various conditions (i.e. in different liquids).
In this experiment, students are encouraged to create and investigate hypotheses about matter by freezing and melting ice in various scenarios.
