Animal Diversity Web
This site contains a wealth of information about different animal groups. There are pictures, informational pages, recordings of animal sounds, and classification keys.  The site also contains links to additional information.
Teachers can use this site to build their background knowledge on different animal groups as they prepare lessons. This site lends itself as a good place for students to do research on different animal groups to learn about their distinguishing characteristics. Students can write reports, create comparison and contrast charts and graphic organizers, and/or make displays that contain information about chararcteristics of different animal groups. The ELA Common Core Research Standards can be addressed by having students use more than one text to do the research. The additional links in this site help facilitate that process.
