Explore Coral Reefs Around the World
This animation allows students to click on different locations on a world map where there are coral reefs. A picture of the coral reef is displayed along with information about the coral reef. Students can also click on "Ocean Depths" and "Sea Surface Temperature" to get additional information to add to their observations and analysis of conditions surrounding the coral reefs.
Students can obtain general information about the coral reefs in this animation. Two of the animations can be used to open a discussion of how human activity is affecting two of the reefs. Students can use the information about "Ocean Depths" and "Sea Surface Temperature" to draw conclusions about conditions conducive to coral reef development and maintenance.
