Paraphrase Craze. Author: Beacon Learning Center.
This lesson discusses the difference between paraphrasing, summarizing, and quoting. Using a conversation between two students, this independently paced lesson provides examples and nonexamples as well as explanations for students' thinking.
This lesson is ideal for a student who needs a little extra support for paraphrasing and summarizing. The students in this module model their thinking in determining a paraphrase or a summary. Definitions of words exist throughout the module, reminding students of academic vocabulary such as recasting, intended message, plagiarism, etc. This can be used in differentiation or in an environment in which a student needs more independently paced learning.
