People Are Like Peas in a Pod
This is a very simple lesson plan lay out, but it contains several activities that would be perfect for learning about heredity, especially at lower elementary levels. The lesson may be altered to expand or reduce the depth of the lesson.
Using observations about peas, students will be able to see how physical characteristics are determined by biological and environmental factors. For example, the color and texture of peas are passed on from parent peas, but the size can be determined by where the pea is located in the pod. Additional information is included and can be utilized, depending on grade level.
