Using Electricity
This interactive activity allows students to place items in a circuit to complete a simple circuit. After completing that activity, students can click on the "What's Next" tab and choose another activity, "Circuits and Conductors" in which students place different materials in a simple circuit to learn which ones conduct electricity. Both activities include quizzes that can be done after students complete the activities. There is a read aloud option that can be used with struggling readers.
Differentiation can be accomplished through the use of this activity. It can be done individually, in pairs, or as a whole group if projected. The activity is appropriate for initial instruction, practice, and reteaching. Because it is visual, it helps meet different learning styles. Students can illustrate and explain the completed circuits as an additional opportunity to embed the learning and assess understanding. A graphic organizer can be made for the "Circuits and Conductors" activity.
