Water Bottle Xylophone
Students will enjoy playing this virtual 5 Note Bottle Xylophone. They can discover what about the "instruments" causes the pitch to change. In addition, students can play virtual panpipes, glockenspiel, fraction tubes and melodic tube drums. Instructions on how to make these instruments and portions of songs to play are provided.
This is a great way for students to explore sound, train themeselves to hear the different pitches, and discover what affects pitch while having a great time. The site lends itself to inquiry as sutdents raise questions and change variables of the different instruments they make to create different sounds. They may even want to compose their own songs or create a band using the different instruments.
