Poetry Out Loud
Presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and Poetry Foundation, this website contains a wide selection of poetry, information about the Poetry Out Loud contest, and a section for teachers and students. Teachers can link to poetry lesson plans, writing activities, and teacher guides.
Teachers can use this site as an outlet for the instruction of poetry in high school. The lessons and writing assignments can be adapted based on the level of the students. From a challenging lesson on the modernist poets to the use of allusions of celebrity figures in poetry, teachers will find a variety of activities and information on possible student participation in the Poetry Out Loud contest.
