Life cycle of mosquitos
This short video clip shows a class visiting a mosquito control station and learning about the life cycle of mosquitoes. There is a background essay for teachers, discussion questions to use with students, and correlations to your state standards, all of which can be printed if needed. The video also has captions for hearing-impaired.
Going beyond the usual life cycles studied (frogs and butterflies), the video and discussion questions compare the life cycle of the mosquito to life cycles of other organisms. One student in the video shows his drawing of the life cycle of the mosquito, which could prompt a class book with each small group of students assigned a different organism's life cycle to illustrate.
