Book vs. Movie: "The Sword in the Stone"
An article comparing and contrasting the animated film version of "The Sword in the Stone" with the book. The author concludes that the book is more "profound" than the movie.
The article notes 2 main areas of contrast: characterization and theme. In particular, the film resorts to exaggerating the characters and weakening Wart (the young Arthur), likely in an attempt to appeal more to families (children). One still from the film is available, illustrating a perplexed Arthur about the draw the sword from the stone.
