Cups, Pints, Quarts, and Gallons
This website provides background information on liquid measures. There is an overview of a demonstration activity to show how the units of liquid measurement build upon each other. The site also suggests a home to school connection by allowing the students to bring in an object to measure how many cups, pints, and quarts that unit can hold and draw conclusions on the relationship of the units.
Instructional strategy for a hands-on lesson on measuring cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. Students measure the smaller amounts in to each to see how each unit builds upon each other.
