Using Perimeter with Polygons
A lesson plan that allows for whole group discussion on perimeter using a Powerpoint presentation. Students then use their knowledge on perimeter and measuring length to find objects in the classroom to measure perimeter. Following the activity, a website is used to check for understanding of the concept.
This is an introductory lesson on perimeter. A powerpoint reviews polygons, and then goes through the steps to measure length and find perimeter. From this students can find objects in the classroom to apply perimeter. A website is used to check for understanding in either a individual or whole group setting. Students are then given a hand-out to check for understanding.
