Line of Best Fit
This is an interactive website which allows the user to plot specific data and manipulate the line of best fit. After the user graphs his/her line, the computer generates a line of best fit, including the correlation coefficient. The site provides investigation data or allows the user to generate his/her own data.
The site acts like a graphing calculator to create scatter plots in order to determine the line of best fit. Students are challenged to find the line of best fit and check for accuracy of their choice. This also opens up opportunities for discussion of the benefits and limitations of scatter plots. This students can determine the correlation coefficient as well.
