This resource provides multiple links to more resources on various modes of writing that includes writing connected to stories, prompts, writing strategies specific to various modes and genres, and teacher resources.
This resource is actually a resource of resources for grades K - 12. Created by teachers across the state of Nevada, this section of the website deals directly with genre and modes, but also incorporates other writing standards. Resources include picture book connections, song connections, book suggestions for teachers and students, writing handouts, and prompts. This site addresses narrative writing, persuasive writing, poetry, business writing, creative writing, informative writing, and summary writing, all with a focus on 6+1 Traits of Writing. Lessons exist for high school students and others can be modified to meet 10th grade genre/mode learning needs.
