The circle of life
Student click to travel through a slideshow that shows the food chain through producers, consumers, and decomposers.
The slide show demonstrates a complete food chain, and the decomposition that allows the chain to continue in a cycle as the decomposed animal material becomes part of the soil that in turn allows a new producer (a plant) to grow. However, the written material on the slides is too difficult for most second graders to read on their own; the teacher would probably need to present this as a whole-group lesson and read aloud.
