The Virtual Ecosystem
This virtual ecosystem takes students through the process of all living organisms must compete for food. A keyboard/student led rabbit is controlled through a field with edible plants. As the rabbit is eating the plants the plant population is graphed on a line graph to the side. The students keep the rabbit alive for thirty seconds. Then, other virtual rabbits are released to compete with your rabbit for the plants. With this competition it becomes harder and harder for the students to keep their rabbit alive.
Linked with this virtual ecosystem is a PDF PDF (http://www.concord.org/sites/default/files/projects/er/materials/Teacher...)file with a lesson plan. After this virtual competition of the rabbits it asks the students to think of what would happen when you add another animal population.
