What's Still Confusing Me...
This assessment provides students with the opportunity to express to the teacher what they identify as the least understood aspect of the lesson thus far.

Implementation
After a lesson, ask students to provide a brief, written identification of what topics they consider to be confusing and not fully understood.
- Construct one or two questions that students can answer quickly, but meaningfully.
- Put the questions on an overhead or on the board.
- Set aside the first and last couple of minutes of the class for the 1-minute paper.
- Distribute index cards or ask students to use a half-sheet of paper to write their responses.
- Student names are not necessary, although you may choose to have them identify themselves.
- Ask students to respond to the questions frankly and concisely. They may use single words, short phrases or very short sentences.
- Tabulate answers. Make note of useful comments. Read and synthesize the responses, allow them to inform your instruction, and address the main problems in class.
