Tangents, Secants, and Chords ... OH MY!
This is a PDF file that contains a 3 part lesson plan using the Geometer's Sketchpad. It is a very nice lab activity for students. The lessons are primarily self guided, and through them, the students will discover and prove proportions involving intersecting chords, secant segments and tangent segments. The plan includes worksheets, with answer sheets, teacher notes, extension activities, and an application activity. The students will find segment lengths formed by radii, chords, secants, and tangents intersecting inside and outside circles.
