On Your Mark
Gold medalist Usain Bolt is the world’s fastest man. He’s also 1.96 meters (6 ft. 5 in.) tall. Does his height give him an advantage, and are the Olympics fair?
In the 100 meter dash Bolt runs 51 times his height. In this lesson we’ll see what would happen if instead of running the same distance in meters, sprinters ran distances proportional to their heights. Would the gold-silver-bronze results be any different?
Sports like boxing & wrestling have weight classes. Should track have height classes?
