Point of View

This unit provides two lessons for teaching point of view.  Strategies are given for helping students to determine the  perspective from which a story is told to the reader.  Included in the plans are instructions  direct teaching, think check, guided practices, and independent practice.  It also provides ideas for building vocabulary,  building student background knowledge, and extension ideas. Teacher and student materials are printable, but you must register to create a free account. The first lesson in this unit includes identifying  and describing first person, third person limited, and third person omniscient points of view.  The second lesson focuses on changing one point of view to another.  Extension ideas include using comic strips to determine point of view and an author study to determine if a particular author tends to write from one point of view or from different points of view.
