Compare-Contrast, Cause-Effect, Problem-Solution: Common Text Types in the New York Times. Author: Katherine Schulten
This resource provides graphic organizers for three types of organizational structures: cause/effect, problem/solution, and compare/contrast as well as a multitude of examples of these text structures in New York Times articles. An excellent resource in teaching organization structures or patterns, these graphic organizers and Times articles can be used in any high school classroom to supplement actual organization structure lessons. Teachers may use these in practice, in assessment, or in modeling how to identify structures through key words and using graphic organizers. The articles deal with various topics, so teachers can choose ones that fit students' needs.
