This resource provides a video of MLK Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech," a transcript of the speech, and five different lessons to consider when analyzing the speech.  These are not teacher-formatted lessons, but rather five different areas ares to think about; however, they can easily be incorporated in teaching rhetorical devices within the speech. The five lessons are as follows: emphasizing phrases by repeating at the beginning of sentences (anaphora), repeat key theme words throughout speech (subtle repetition), utilize appropriate quotations or allusions, use specific examples to ground your argument, and use metaphors to highlight contrasting concepts.  Each of these include specific examples from the speech and discusses how these devices are effective. This resource can be used as a catalyst for ideas in planning lessons with "I Have a Dream" speech.  Each section gives various ideas and examples, which can be included in teaching analysis or in analyzing the speech as a whole group.  The video and transcript will prove helpful as well.
