A Tour Through DNA
This is a lesson plan that can be used to lead students to an understanding of DNA through creating a model and writing a tour guide that would be used to take someone on a “tour” of DNA. The lesson includes direction for a student project and a scoring checklist/rubric. This activity challenges students to explain the structure of DNA, which includes the nucleic acid bases. Students must model their understanding of the structure of DNA, and students must also make real world applications as they write the guide for their tour.
