Ramp: Forces and Motion

This resource is laid out similar to the "Forces and Motion" PhET simulation, except that objects can now be pushed up a ramp. The height of the ramp may be adjusted. Four activities allow the user to investigate variables such as coefficient of friction, acceleration due to gravity, and the mass of the object being moved. The user may also record and play back the action, while viewing the force-time graphs for applied force, friction, gravity, and net force. Links to teacher lesson plans and other languages are also included on the site. Newton's 2nd law relates the acceleration of an object to its mass and the net force. This tool demonstrates the net force as the object moves along a level or a tilted space. Scaled arrows represent the magnitude and direction of the forces exerted on the object and graphs allow examination of the various forces over time.
