Commonly Used Foreign Words and Phrases

In order to better understand our spoken and written language, students need to understand some commonly-used foreign words and phrases that have been incorporated into the English language.  This powerpoint includes the words and phrases that appear on the End-of-Course  tests for English 1, 2, 3. The foreign words from the End-of-Course tests for English 1,2,3 appear in this powerpoint with the pronunciation of the word, the definition of the word, the origin of the word, the part of speech, and an example of the word used in a sentence. To hear the word pronounced, students may click on a sound button. click on the link in the window that says, u201cto hear the word again.u201d The word should be pronounced.
