Modeling Moon Phases
Using a lamp (representing the sun), a student's head (representing the earth) and a ping pong ball glued to a stick (representing the moon), students can visually see the moon phases. Moon phases can be related to baseball in the following manner: home base (new moon), 1st base (1st quarter), 2nd base (full moon), and 3rd base (3rd quarter).
