The Pigeon Teachers Guide by Mo Willems

The youngest children can read the pictures and the moods of the pigeon as he tries to fast-talk us into letting down our guard. As you read the book aloud, acknowledge your listeners’ spontaneous responses (“NO!” “Forget it!”) as they interact and answer back each of the pigeon’s entreaties. This is a resource guide for teachers using "Pigeon" books by popular children's author Mo Willems. Author Mo Willems has many books that could be used to talk about shared experiences. Suggestions in the guide include: Write a personal narrative, respond to Pigeon's requests, compare and contrast the duckling and Pigeon, etc.
