Tennessee was the first state in the country to establish the executive position of Chief Learning Officer (CLO), appointing Dr. Trish Holliday to this role. Trish fosters a culture that promotes engagement, encourages retention, and provides continuous learning and leadership development for all employees, ultimately positioning the state as a learning organization.
Dr. Holliday’s commitment and passion for helping professionals reach their greatest potential are rooted in her experience as an adult educator and executive coach, and her early years in full-time ministry as a missionary in Tennessee Appalachia. As a successful change agent, facilitator, and storyteller, she is often asked by executive leaders to undertake complex problem-solving opportunities by bringing people together and helping them discover innovative solutions, and develop the leaders needed to execute.
In 2018, Trish received the Tennessee Personnel Management Association (TPMA) Richard L. Stokes Personnel Achievement Award for innovation and high standards in Human Resources Management. She is a 2018 graduate of Leadership Middle Tennessee. Trish enjoys serving as an Adjunct Professor at Lipscomb University teaching Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Education as part of the Doctor of Education program. She also is an Adjunct Professor at Trevecca Nazarene University preparing future leaders in human resources leadership and management.
As a result of her influence as a leader, Trish was the recipient of the 2017 Corporate Learning Network Learning Leader of the Year Award, the Tennessee SHRM Human Resource Management Excellence Award, the CLO Learning Innovator Leader of the Year Award, and the HR.com Top Corporate Leader for Leadership Excellence Award ranked 2nd worldwide. Trish is a graduate of Leadership Tennessee Class IV.
Trish is an active member in the following international, national, state, and local organizations: TNCPE, IPMA-HR, TPMA, MTSHRM, TNSHRM, and NASPE. She is an inaugural member of the TEDxNashville Society of Fellows. Trish serves on various boards and as a speaker at the local, national, and international level. She serves on the Certified Public Advisory Board with the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service, the Disability Rights Tennessee Board of Directors, the State Habitat for Humanity Board, and is Chairperson for the Board of Visitors for the College of Education at Lipscomb University. Trish was a founding board member of the non-profit organization, Impact Nashville and currently serves as the community liaison.
